a5c7b9f00b Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 duo's. These pairs are a partnership between a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to reach a ranking of "Death Scythe" (and thus fit for use by the Shinigami) they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch. However, forces outside of the Academy make it more challenging of a feat.
The first time I watched Soul Eater I honestly liked it, however later on in the series I couldn't stand it.

I will admit the critical reasons I didn't adore it are unreasonable so we'll put those aside. This anime has a very unique sense of animation, the dub is fine, and the theme song is great. The characters, though, are very quirky. Which is enjoyable honestly, you can't find too many characters like them.

But like unlike other animes, this one disappointed me (will get to that later) It was very different, in many ways, for example it's comedy, it's characters, and it's storytelling. Throughout the series, however, I did not bond with any character like I do with at least one of every animes I watch.

There not a lot of reasoning to why, they just didn't seem relatable. Yes, the characters are funny but it's hard to click with them.

The ending is very unsatisfactory, in all honestly I wanted more but I didn't really want to read the manga. It's odd, I don't really how to explain maybe it's just me.

Beside the fact, it's a good watch. The appropriate age range would be maybe 12 or for mature kids 10. It's dark but not too dark.

In conclusion, I respect Soul Eater. It goes a different route than other anime and gives out a risky animation style. But besides it's dark humor, the story is pretty typical. Which is the main reason why this anime disappointed me.
I loved this anime. It knows when to be funny, but can become pretty serious fast. It has a unique plot, and doesn't copy anyone. The art style is also very unique and good. I have recommended this to friends who have loved it. However, as I said in the description, it may leave you with the wrong impression if you watch episode one only. Episode one does not properly show what the anime is like, as right away you are greeted by Blair singing about how sexy she is in a bathtub. However, bubbles do cover certain parts of her to hide anything explicit. She continues to act provocatively throughout this episode and the whole series. So if that's not your thing, maybe this isn't the best anime for you, or you should consider skipping the first episode as it isn't essential to the plot and is just used to introduce the two main characters, Maka and Soul. Moving on, this anime has very good characters that all develop well and play their role. The ending wasn't the best, but it is still very much worth a binge-watch. Other than Blair, there is also a bit more nudity, as when the female weapons are shown in weapon form, they are naked, but are rarely shown further down than the shoulders. Again, if you are uncomfortable with nudity, maybe not the best for you. But most people can see past that, and see how great this anime is. So go watch it now. Also, MAKA X CRONA FOREVER!!!!
